Artist's Comments

This was actually a bit of a mistake. We were in Scotland for a summer trip, and were visiting Balquidder, the ancestral home of our clan, MacLaren. We climbed this mountain to see the Creag an Tuirc, or "The Boar's Rock", which was the traditional rallying place of the clan. It was a beautiful spot on top of the mountain that overlooked a gorgeous valley and a vast loch.

On the way back down, this picture happened. The stars are my brother and sister, Jess and Abbey. When I took it, I knew it would be a good one, but something about the way she's looking at the camera, about the way the background is fuzzy. I love how you can just see that they're moving.

The title comes from the forest we walked through on our way up the mountain. It was exactly what Tolkien envisioned when he thought up Mirkwood, I am certain. Now if only Legolas had shown up...

p.s.--apologies for the date and time in the corner. I have nothing at this time with which to remove it. >_<
